SoulCARE: A Pilot Program for Ministry Leaders

SoulCARE is a resource for spiritual and physical care among ministry leaders in the Bay Area.

Where do leaders go to attend to the cries of their own hearts for physical rest and spiritual renewal? We believe there is a need for pastors and ministry leaders to be able to attend to God’s intimate workings in their own lives so they can lead effectively, authentically and joyfully in the communities to which they are called.  The passion for God that draws individuals into ministry in the first place may become buried under the challenges of meeting the expectations and needs of those they serve.

SoulCARE will provide a place and a practical process for nurturing authentic intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. This nine-month cohort of 20 leaders will participate in retreats, spiritual practices and direction, and community experiences that will help cultivate spiritual rhythms applicable to one’s life and position of leadership.

This pilot program will run from September, 2008 – May, 2009 with 20 participants and the leadership team: Patti Pierce, Executive Director of WellSpring; Russ Ikeda, D.Min., Executive Director of Emmaus Ministries of Silicon Valley; Paul Dumesnil, Betty Ann Boeving and Liz Lawhead.
